India’s Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) hosted a delegation of directors from Ethiopia as part of a 'twining programme' with the Leather Industry Development Institute (LIDI) in the African country.

The countries are sharing footwear and leather industry know-how and Ethiopian students are being trained in the Noida-based facility as part of the tie-up.

Raajeev Lakhara, managing director of FDDI, said: “The Ethiopian delegation visited FDDI to further develop business ties and to imbibe the institute's experience in other areas of industrial consultancy.

“FDDI will be extending full support to the Ethiopian leather industry for enhancing its competitiveness and to accelerate the growth so that it succeeds on a global scale.”

The delegation visited FDDI’s International Testing Centre, which specialises in leather, footwear, footwear components, textiles and plastics.
